About Your Instructor

Join us for an enlightening session with Aidan Woodwick-Richards. Aidan has worked in the wine industry for four years and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in History at California State University, East Bay. His interest in port wine history stemmed from watching the film A Year in Port. This movie taught Aidan how port was made and the modern-day attitude of the port wine industry, especially those who hold most of the power. Hint: The English port houses still have most of the power of the port industry today.

Through this online museum, Aidan intends to prove how Britain’s economic imperialism and nationalism influenced the Port wine industry during the nineteenth century. In his first lesson, Aidan will explain why this history matters and the exact quote that inspired his historical exploration of the people, politics, and power that formed the foundation of the Port wine industry.
